Luminescence

$1,800.00

2026, Acrylic, spray paint on cradled board. 36”x36”. Painting extends to the sides of the cradled board.

Luminescence continues my ongoing exploration of water as a threshold — the place where one state gives way to another. This acrylic and spray paint painting emerged from a creek I return to often on my hikes, though the work moves intuitively rather than literally, letting form and color respond to memory and sensation rather than direct observation. Bands of peach, lavender, and deep plum ripple across the surface, dissolving into darker, more textured passages where suggestions of shape and texture emerge from shadow.

As part of my Passages series, this piece sits within a larger body of work concerned with transition and liminal experience — those in-between moments that resist easy definition. Water has long been central to my practice as a mixed media artist; here, it becomes a way of thinking about memory itself: how it holds things, distorts them, and lets them surface again.
