“Beauty opens the soul to Act.” Dante Alighieri
This festive mug was found in a shop in Florence when I was studying in Italy many years ago. I fell in love with the set of 6 immediately and lovingly packed them in my suitcase with my clothing, art supplies, books, and souvenirs. My new ceramic treasures flew across two oceans and a continent, back to Hawaii where I was living at the time.
Unfortunately, only 2 of the 6 survived. And, for some reason, the remaining two have lived either on a shelf or in a box when they were moved about 5 more times. I don’t remember ever actually using them.
What the heck was I saving them for?
Just recently I brought the remaining two mugs out of the cabinets, filled them with my brushes. They now they sit happily and purposefully in my studio.
We all need to find our Raison D’être.
Love the story of the mugs! And the painting is wonderful. Very dear and yet energetic. I want to paint with those brushes!
Important to use the things you purchase on trips. Great memories should be out in the open
