“As the years passed the layers of netting multiplied and she began to rely on a different kind of memory. The memory of things she knew but no longer saw.”

Brick Lane by Monica Ali.

Spent the day yesterday installing my exhibition Ebb & Flow at Gallery 37: A Destination for Artful Living, 8 So. Walnut St., Milford, DE.

Layers of netting and materials form a nest or cocoon to hold our stories, find connections, and create meaning, in the Ebb & Flow of our transient and fragile lives.

Misako, Gallery 37 art muse and trusted friend of artist and gallery owner, Marcia Reed.

Misako, Gallery 37 art muse was in and out of the window as well.

It was a beautiful warm sunny spring day as I climbed in and out of the window, hanging, adjusting and adding to my evolving hanging sculpture with the help and keen eye of gallery owner and artist Marcia Reed and supervised by Misako, resident art cat.

I know what you’re thinking: Cat + Yarn/Netting = Trouble. However, Marcia assured me that Misako is a seasoned professional and confirmed that in her email update this evening:

“Misako has done nothing to the window but it was the window of her choice today to sit and sleep in all day and she would walk over the string! Now is that a great cat or what?” Now if only she could pour wine and pass out appetizers!
